Major participants in this meeting
The 2024 Japan - New Zealand - Taiwan workshop on seismic hazard assessment was held in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, Japan from 5 – 8 November 2024. There were a total of 92 participants in this meeting, from Taiwan, New Zealand, Japan, and regions in Asia, Europe, and America.
With 40 oral presentations and 35 poster presentations, participants had valuable discussion in the following sessions:
- National & Global Seismic Hazard Models
- Recent Large Earthquakes
- Earthquake Source Modelling
- Use of Seismic & Geodetic Monitoring
- Ground-Motion Models & Simulations
- Application to Risk & more
In addition, plans toward further and continued international collaboration in seismic hazard/risk assessment were discussed.

A two-day field trip was held after the two-day meeting to understand the geological impact of the 2024 M7.6 Noto-Hanto Earthquake as well as the potential risk due to future earthquakes.
- Day 1: Noto Peninsula area, including the large coseismic uplift at Kaiso fish port.
- Day 2: Hakusan-Tedorigawa UNESCO Global Geopark
