Participants

Participants of the eighth workshop meeting in Oamaru, New Zealand

The 2018 workshop was hosted by University of Otago, University of Canterbury, and GNS Science, co-hosted by NIED and TEM at Oamaru, New Zealand on 14-16 Nov. 2018 (photos 3-5). The 2.5-day workshop was preceded by a one-day fieldtrip to the southwestern end of the 2016 Kaikoura earthquake ruptures (photos 1-2), and followed by a 2.5-day fieldtrip to Clyde Dam (photo 6) and the Dunstan Fault where the most active fault in central Otago. Around 70 participants attended the workshop, and around 50 attended each of the fieldtrips

The following are the salient points that came out of the two discussion sessions held at the workshop. They are grouped into the categories of: (1) Source model and ground motion prediction; (2) Hazard modelling; and (3) Hazard science communication.
